Heavy Impacts for Large-Scale Destruction

A long series of numbered Large Destruction impact sound effects: heavy hits for buildings coming down, earthquakes, car wrecks and giant creatures stomping through a city. With so many takes, you can cut a whole collapse without repeating one. Use them under building destruction and earthquake VFX.

Trailer-loud mixes: take the WAV

Played loud, low-end hits expose every weakness in a file, so trailers and theatrical mixes should use the WAV. The MP3 is enough for a single hit in a short.

Cutting a destruction sequence

Land the first impact on the frame the first wall cracks or the first chunk falls, not when the dust cloud peaks.
Overlap two or three takes a few frames apart, so a collapse rolls on instead of hitting once, and top it with glass and metal from crashes and debris.
For a giant creature's footsteps, land a hit on every step, delayed slightly for steps far from camera, and shake the frame with Camera Shake.
To duck music under the biggest hits in Premiere Pro, tag it as Music in the Essential Sound panel and turn on Ducking.
