Water Drips and Liquid Squishes

Small, close liquid sounds: single water drips and droplets, continuous dripping, a water swell, and blood squishes for horror and action scenes. Drips suit leaking pipes, caves, bathrooms and tense, quiet rooms. Match them to liquid VFX on screen, or add organic sounds for wetter textures.

Category information

Which format for drips?

Drips usually get EQ and reverb to place them in a cave or a tiled room, and that processing is cleaner from the WAV. Untreated, the MP3 drops straight into an edit.

How to use water drip sounds

Sync a drip to the frame the drop hits the surface, not the moment it leaves the tap or ceiling.
Give it a space: a short reverb for a bathroom, a long one for a cave or sewer. In Premiere Pro, the Studio Reverb effect has presets to start from.
When the camera cuts close to a leak, layer a single drip over the steady dripping, so the close-up gets its own detail.
Keep continuous dripping low under a whole scene; it reads as damp, neglect or a building left empty. For gore, put the blood squishes under blood VFX.
